Our Favorite Baby Products 0-3 Months

Those first three months, the fourth trimester, mostly consists of eating, sleeping, and diaper changes with a little awake time activity mixed in. You'll go to a few doctor's appointments and will take walks when you're ready! Sometimes even the occasional nighttime drive to get the baby to sleep. You honestly don't need a ton of toys for the baby especially early on. Making faces, talking, singing, tummy time, looking at a mirror, & high contrast books were great activities during this stage. Below you'll find our favorite products we used for Beau organized by the most often used at the top. With the exception of the carseat/stroller set up & fleece, we used all other products daily!

Baby Bjorn Bouncer

This was hands down the best baby item we received. We used it after every feeding to keep lil man as upright as possible to help with reflux - he puked so much & was uncomfortable. Beau is also learning that he can move it himself by kicking, which has been fun to watch! While a battery-operated bouncer might seem ideal, it was no problem for me to bounce him in front of me while I pumped. Material is super easy to wash & folds up nicely to slide under couch/easy to transport! Worth the money!

Nested Bean Swaddle

We used a variety of swaddles for Beau thanks to hand-me-downs! This one was our favorite! Some parents swear by it to help their babies sleep better. It has a little weight that's supposed to replicate your hand to comfort them - think weighted blanket for babes! This was great for arms swaddled or arms out!

Halo Swaddle Sleep Sacks

The hospital actually provided us with one of these fleece sleep sacks and it was so easy! We snagged another cotton one at the exchange on base for a few bucks cheaper than Amazon's price. I will note that the zipper broke on the hospital provided sack and the hand-me-down sack I got, but they got lots of use and washes - something to take into consideration! This too was great for arms in or out of the swaddle!

Hatch Sound Machine

White noise is meant to replicate the noise they hear in the womb and cue sleep for the baby. Our takingcarababies newborn program class recomended using a noise machine that does not turn off because turning it off can wake the baby from their sleep. Another reason why I liked this one is I could adjust the volume from the app on my phone without having to enter the room and risk waking the baby. During middle of the night feedings, I would also turn the light on using the app.

Pacifiers

As much as I wanted to love the Wubanub Paci's or the adorable Ryan & Rose Cutie Pat, the glow-in-the-dark pacifiers are where it's at!! We started using a pacifier with my son once we moved him into the nursery to sleep during the night, since it is said to reduce SIDS. While I was still nursing him, I didn't have any issue with the pacifier use (aka what they call nipple confusion)

Activity Mat

I registered for an activity mat that was constantly out of stock, so I ended up getting my activity mat at a rummage sale for like $10! This one, however, is the one I would have loved to have! It has the high contrast (black & white) that babies love and you can attach the toys to the arches or fold them down & attach to the mat itself. Each section has activities listed for every month, which I thought was fun!

Contrast Books

We read these books every day, and he loves them! I picked the ocean theme to tie into themed play ideas (books about the ocean, water activity mat, jelly fish stuffed animal, etc). It is also great to place in front of him during tummy time. The Sassy Peek-a-Boo is soft and great for the car (reduce projectiles), it is crinkly, and he will eventually grab the peek-a-boo flaps!

Mirror

Again with the contrast?! Yep!! This little mirror is great for tummy time! Lil man loves to look at the contrast cards and grab the little crinkly ball on the mirror itself. Don't want to spend the money on this item - make faces in your bathroom mirror or use a door hanging mirror propped up against the couch!

Hushh Portable White Noise Machine

We received 2 of these for our shower on accident and decided to keep both, which I'm super glad we did. I keep one attached to his carseat at all times, then kept the other next to my bed when he was in the bassinet in our room that way the Hatch sound machine could stay in the nursery. We always have one charged & ready to go! This one does not shut off. I also received the Baby Shusher - many people rave about it, but it's my least favorite of the 3 noise options (it also shuts off)

Medicine Paci

Everyone knows about the Snot Sucker, but this Medi Frida is where it's at! This company kills the game for baby & mom products! My friend who was a nurse in the ER got this for me! We use it daily for Vitamin D drops (for breastfed babies), Gripe Water (hiccups) & Infant's Tylenol (Acetometaphine) for the 2 month shots. I also use the snot sucker frequently, just not daily like I do the paci!

Hooded Sherpa

Our lil dude was so stinkin cute in this outfit! It was perfect for walks when it was chilly out!

Fleece Booties

These are WAY easier than trying to keep on lil baby socks. You don't really need baby shoes other than for your enjoyment dressing the baby up. These are a great alternative! I have this brand, as well as another velcro one I found at a rummage sale.

Snuggapuppy Swing

During those first 3 months the swing wasn't his favorite - his absolute favorite was a hand-me-down Rock n Play. I would use it while I pumped right next to me with him strapped in if I needed to keep him calm and laying under his activity mat wouldn't occupy him. You cannot get these anymore because they were recalled; however, he this swing was a close second and has gotten it's fair share of daily use once he started rolling (when we stopped using the rock-n-play)

Graco Snugride Snuglock Infant Car Seat & Base

I love this carseat system - the auditory click that it's locked in place keeps me from likely stopping every 5 minutes to check & make sure it's hooked in. It also has a release button that is really easy to use to remove from the base or the adapter on our stroller. We got a base for each of our cars.

Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller & Carseat Adapter

We bought this off of a friend & found a compatabile carseat adapter for the carseat we wanted! It has been a great system and folds up very easily with one pull. The canopy even has UV 50+ protection since the recommendation is no sunscreen on baby's sensitive skin until 6 months (talk to your pediatrician, though!). We ended up having to buy an actual jogging stroller as well because Baby Jogger strollers actually are not meant for jogging - oh well!

Diaper Bag by Tactical Baby Gear

This was another favorite of ours! I bought this for me, not just my hubby and prefer it over the other diaper bag I have! There is a pouch on the front for dirty clothes or diapers, a wipe holder on the side, hooks on the stroller easy and has lots of space for everything I've needed! MilkSnob Carseat Cover

This was great for keeping strangers away from your baby while out (#COVID) and also kept the wind/sun out of his face when transporting to and from the car. I've also used this for a cover while pumping! MilkSnob has a ton of cute designs for you to choose from, too - disney, mickey, sports teams, colleges, etc.

Otteroo

And last, but not least is the Otteroo floatie for the bath tub! We first used this right after lil man's 2 month shots, which I really think helped ease his discomfort. He loves the water and it's been a great part of our bedtime routine! We purchased the Lumi for 8+ weeks, which is good for 9-35lbs.
